A practitioner will regard the welfare of the client as their primary obligation
A practitioner will not make any distinctions towards their clients on the grounds of race, colour, religion or sexual orientation
A practitioner will give priority to professional responsibility over personal interests
A practitioner will hold themselves responsible for the quality and extent of the services they perform
A practitioner will respect the privacy, rights and needs of the client they serve at all times
A practitioner will use information gained in a professional relationship in a responsible manner
A practitioner will provide service in a professional, safe and ethical manner
A practitioner diagnosed with an infectious medical condition that can be passed onto clients must ensure they practice in a manner that does not put the client at risk
A practitioner must not make any claims to be qualified, willing or able to cure cancer, mental or terminal illnesses
A practitioner must not practise under the influence of alcohol or unlawful drugs
A practitioner must not practice while suffering from any physical or mental illness, disability, condition or disorder that detrimentally affects their ability to practice or that places clients at risk of harm
A practitioner must not financially exploit clients
A practitioner must conduct themselves with courtesy, sensitivity and patience and impart all information needed to put client at ease
A practitioner must not diagnose or treat an illness or medical condition without a adequate clinical basis
A practitioner must not engage in any form of misinformation or misrepresentation in relation to products or services they provide or as to their qualifications, training or affiliation
A practitioner must not engage in sexual or other close relationship with a client
A practitioner must comply with the relevant legislation of the country, state or commonwealth relating to their clients personal information
A practitioner must maintain accurate, legible, relevant and confidential records for each client consultation
A practitioner must display a copy of the code of ethics and conduct in their clinic or provide it to a client for inspection on request
